Oisín O'Neill

Acoustic Guitar

Classical Guitar

Hi, my name is Oisín O’Neill, I am from Cahir, County Tipperary, and I teach guitar at Hanrahan School of Music.

I graduated from SETU with a BA (Hons) in Music in 2024 with a First-Class Honours degree majoring in classical guitar performance and with a minor in composition. I am now undertaking my MA in Music Research and Performance also at SETU.

I grew up in a very musical family and have been playing guitar since I was 7 years old but started to take it very seriously at the age of 14. I began performing concerts in various venues with many different ensembles and genres at 15.  I am experienced in playing electric guitar and acoustic guitar; however, my main discipline is now classical guitar performance.
My biggest influences in music are my dad who was also a singer and guitarist, Rory Gallagher, Chet Atkins, and the classical guitarist John Williams.

I love to teach students what they want to learn and what they are interested in, while also combining that with good foundational techniques and knowledge. And most importantly, I want the students to have fun in their lessons and to look forward to them each week! I aim to always give the students a positive and light-hearted learning experience. I believe that playing and learning music should above all else be fun and enjoyable!
