Kari Thatcher

Violin Teacher

Hi there! My name is Kari Thatcher. Music has been part of my life since I was born. It was
constantly being played and sung in the house. As a young child, I learned piano, but as time
went on, I focused on violin.
I have been playing violin for over 15 years, and it truly is my musical passion. I love the
versatility of the instrument and helping other people to unlock its beauties.
Part of my musical journey included completing ABRSM practical music exams through
grade 8 and studying music theory. More recently, I completed an ARSM Teaching Diploma
through ABRSM.
Singing in a choir, directing a small ensemble, and teaching in various settings have all
helped to deepen my teaching approach to tailor lesson plans fitting the needs of individual
students. I have been teaching violin for 7 or 8 years now, focusing primarily on classical and
traditional music.
I firmly believe that anyone can learn the violin no matter their age. The skills I will share
with you will enable you to be an independent musician wherever life takes you.
I am looking forward to this new adventure teaching at Hanrahan School of Music!
