Clare Flynn

Piano Teacher

My name is Clare Flynn and I have recently started teaching piano at Hanrahan Music. I really enjoy teaching and welcome students of any age, from all musical backgrounds or complete beginners.

To give you a little background on myself, I have been playing piano, singing and making up songs and melodies since I was very young. I took up guitar some years later and studied piano and guitar at the Kerry School of Music and the piano at a high level at the Royal Irish Academy of Music in Dublin while studying for a Music degree in University College Dublin. I decided to switch to a Science degree before finishing the Music degree which afforded me many interesting opportunities.

After University I had some success as a singer/songwriter, playing in small venues in Ireland and the UK. I have played live on BBC Radio Cambridgeshire and sang in many local choirs. I recently spent a year studying jazz piano with Wexford School of Music, playing in their student jazz ensemble and getting to perform at the Wexford Arts Centre and Greenacres. My current goals, other than enjoying teaching at Hanrahans, are to take the Grade 8 ABRSM piano exam, expand my repertoire of popular, jazz and blues music and prepare some of my musical compositions ready for release!

Whether you are interested in preparing for piano exams or have another musical goal in mind, Hanrahan Music is well set up to help you succeed, with excellent resources available and a supportive team in place. Each student is valued as an individual and if you would like to try learning the piano, I will help you to reach your potential, guiding you along the way. Learning the piano can be hard work at times but it is incredibly rewarding and a lot of fun. Plus, you never know where it might take you in the future!
